A Whole New World…at EPCOT And much more
This weekend was the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. The Expo is the perfect place for lovers of Disney to meet up to hear about what is new at the Company with exciting panels ranging from Disney movies, to beloved TV shows and exciting additions to the theme parks. So what is new with Parks and Resorts?
WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort
The 2017 D23 Expo already showed us that Disney has BIG plans for the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World resort with exciting additions like a TRON roller coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and a lot of new additions to Epcot including a Guardians of the Galaxy coaster! New this year:
New at Epcot
Epcot is the park getting the most attention; it is going to be completely reimagined, including a completely new entrance and park center. On top of that some exciting new additions are:
Moana
The popular Disney movie is coming to Epcot with the addition of a water maze area, Journey of Water, will have inspirations pulled directly from Moana. This is on top of a new Nature inspired pavilion to be called World Nature, replacing the current Land and Seas pavilions.
Mary Poppins!
The world’s most famous nanny is flying to the UK pavilion in Epcot with the inclusion of a whole new ride and a new “Cherry Tree Lane” neighborhood straight from the movies!

Disney also released more information on the already announced enhancements.
- The Guardians of the Galaxy coaster will be called Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and will feature the first reverse launch into space!
- Near it, the new space themed restaurant will be called Space 220 Restaurant and will open this winter as an out-of-this-world culinary experience with the celestial panorama of a space station, including daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up.
- The France pavilion is getting a new creperie AND a new ride: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opening summer 2020.
- The name for the new permanent Epcot fireworks show has been announced. HarmonioUS will debut in 2020 after the temporary show, Epcot Forever finishes its limited run. The new show will celebrate how the music of Disney inspires people the world over, carrying you away harmoniously on a stream of familiar Disney tunes reinterpreted by a diverse group of artists from around the globe.
Disney Springs
Disney shared some information about the highly anticipated new Cirque Du Soleil show coming to the Walt Disney World Resort. Disney has been working closely with Cirque to create an exciting new show that tells the story of Disney Animation with live performers interacting with animation on stage. The story follows the daughter of a Disney Animator as she discovers the world of animation and will premiere on April 17, 2020!

Avenger Campus
Avengers assemble! A new expansion is coming to DCA! Now guests can be recruited to join the best superhero team with exciting new attractions. Phase One will open in 2020 with exciting rides including a Spider-Man Experience where guests will test drive the latest “Web Slinger” invention. Guests will also be able to meet their favorite heroes including Ant-Man and the Wasp, Black Widow, Doctor Strange and much more!
Phase two will open in the future with the Avengers headquarters and a brand-new, highly technological ride, that takes you to Wakanda to fight alongside The Avengers
New at Disneyland Park
Disneyland is getting a whole new parade in spring 2020! The new Magic Happens will travel down Main Street and celebrate awe-inspiring moments of magic including brand new floats honoring Coco, Moana and Sleeping Beauty with a color changing dress!
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World early 2020, is also coming to Disneyland’s Toontown in 2022!
DISNEY CRUISE LINE
As you might know, DCL is getting three new ships. However, this weekend we learned that the first new ship has been named! The fifth Disney Cruise Line ship, Disney Wish, will set sail on January 2022! The ship’s atrium will be a bright, airy and elegant space inspired by the beauty of an enchanted fairytale and the ship will make sure to make all your wishes come true!
The cruises are also getting a second private Disney Port. On top of the beloved Castaway Cay, guests will now also get to travel to Lighthouse Point in the Bahamas and experience the spirit, culture and natural beauty of the area!
