Did You Know? Walt Disney World Edition

Gwarsh!?

With four theme parks, two water parks and multiple resorts, there is a LOT to do at the Walt Disney World Resort. So much in fact that even Disney aficionados, like me, learn something new every time.  Here is a list of a few things that first-timers might not have known they could do at the parks:

Celebration Buttons

You might have seen these buttons around Walt Disney World Resort. But, did you know, they are free and anyone can get them!? Celebrate your special achievements at Disney in style. Be it a birthday, anniversary, graduation or any other special event! Cast Members or other guests might even congratulate you and celebrate with you. What will you celebrate next?

Magic Band Interaction

You might have known that the Magic Band can be used for payments, opening your resort door, entering the park or scanning photos but did you know that they also interact with your surroundings? In some attractions, your band interacts with the screens and some magic can happen! Next time you are at Everest, pay close attention to the trip posters…Another cool fact is that many attractions have in-ride photos that go straight to your magic band, no scan necessary! They are truly filled with pixie-dust!

“4th FastPass”

Most people know that you can book up to three FastPasses per ticket-day before your trip, but many do not realize that once you use your three fast passes for the day you can schedule another one for any remaining attractions. You can keep adding extra FastPasses once you have visited the previous attraction until you’re ready to head home.  That is why I recommend that you book your first three FastPasses for as early as possible to have more time afterward to make extra ones. What was the maximum number of FastPasses you have been able to book in one day?

“Hidden” Activities

It is easy to learn about the must-do attractions, but there are some fun activities at the parks that some guests do not even know about!

A Pirate’s Adventure – In Adventureland, at the Magic Kingdom, there is an interactive game where guests can get a treasure map and help Captain Jack Sparrow complete a secret mission. Not only are the activities fun, but the map can be a nice free keepsake. If you complete 2 missions you might even get a FastPass to ride Pirates of the Caribbean and if you complete all 5 you get a sixth and final card signed by Captain Jack Sparrow himself!

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom – Also at the Magic Kingdom, guests can sign up for this game at Main Street U.S.A and be taken on a magical adventure throughout the park helping Merlin defeat various Disney Villains. The best part? This game can be played multiple times and your progress will be saved from your last visit! Each time you play you will be given a deck of spell cards per day so you can keep playing and continue to grow your collection!

Honorary Disney Historian – At Walt Disney Presents, in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests can become an Honorary Disney Historian. They can get a three-question quiz from the Cast Member at the entrance and then find out the answers as they walk around the exhibits. Once you complete your quiz you will receive a certificate celebrating your achievement and will be able to sign their book with all of the Honorary Disney Historians.
