Another great celebration!
Today all the Orlando trade and officials have gathered to announce Orlando’s visitor numbers in 2017.
72,000,000 visitors.
2017 was a milestone year for Orlando. Orlando has established itself as a sporting destination, a reference in Hospitals and Medical Research, the capital of simulator technology, and our airport has surpassed Miami in passenger numbers, becoming Florida’s number 1.
Although turbulent at the moment, Orlando Airport is in full swing in its expansion and modernization project. It is the largest investment underway in the airport area of the United States. More than $ 4 billion is being spent on building two new terminals. Terminal C is now ready and will soon go into operation. Soon, arriving and departing through Orlando airport will be one of the best experiences in the country.
Our convention center also broke its record with 1,530,000 attendees at various conventions.
We had our challenges with Hurricane Irma, but we were fast enough to recover and get the message across to the world that we are fully functioning and open for business.
As mentioned by Roger Dow (President and CEO of US Travel Association), Orlando’s success is not just important for the destination, but for tourism as a whole. The United States is on its way to rescuing its share of world visitors, and this Orlando record is a reminder of the strength and endurance of the tourism industry.
May 2018 continue to blow the good winds to the city and that Brazilians continue to be one of the major international contributors to Orlando’s success.
Congratulations Orlando!
